Artist Bio: Mixed media glass artist, Lynn Farrar was born in Shawnee, Ok. but grew up in Cottonwood, Ca. Her first formative experience as an artist was when she was in kindergarten. Her teacher let the class experiment with watercolors and Lynn painted a beautiful rose outlined in black crayon. It was then she realized she loved art more than any other school subject.
Fast forward to 2000, Lynn focused on stained glass as a medium and took classes from Oklahoma Artist, Patience Rhodes. Lynn was drawn to how colors reflected through light could illuminate a room. For the past 23 years, she continued to explore ways to stack and layer glass, incorporate found objects, add glass beads and copper wire then use different colors of patina to stain the solder. Lynn created mosaic art, mixed media art, and is now creating abstract paintings and landscapes in oil and cold wax.
Through the years she has been honored to participate in several exhibits, festivals, and gallery shows. Artist’s Statement: “As we go through life, we have experiences that may break us, but shape us into who we are today. The broken pieces we carry, when integrated in new ways gives us character, uniqueness, and individuality. Just as it is with our lives, soldering pieces back together again, layering in found objects, and recycling them into something new, transforms into a celebration of beauty in ourselves and in art. We are works of art. Shapes, light and color play a powerful role in each edgy original design”.
